> Interleges UK and Dubai member firms unite to co-host over-subscribed investment, property and tax seminar in Dubai

Whilst many of the London City’s largest law firms are opening offices in the Middle East, niche City player Royds is busy developing the market in a different way. Working with its Dubai based Interleges colleagues, Trench & Associates, Royds solicitors is sending a trio of partners to co-host a seminar for ex-pats and Dubai nationals in February.

Jim Sawer, head of Royd’s private client team, will present a paper at the Capital Club events on tax planning for ex-pats. He will be accompanied by John North, head of Royds Corporate Commercial department and the firm’s main Interleges contact, who specialises in company sales and Vivien Davies, a commercial litigation partner.

Other speakers at the seminar will be:

    1. Cynthia Trench (Trench & Associates’ main Interleges contact) who will be discussing Sharia Law implications in Dubai;

    2. Philip Corfield-Smith who will discuss issues arising from purchasing properties in Dubai; and

    3. Judy Healy from Real Estate Regulatory Authority (“RERA”) from the Government of Dubai, who will be speaking on recent forms and agreements introduced by RERA in respect of property purchases.

Vivien Davies, the commercial litigation partner who was in Dubai and Qatar a few months ago and introduced Trench & Associates into the Interleges association commented “We are delighted that our seminar is so over-subscribed that we have had to add an additional session - we are expecting 100 delegates which includes a number of VIPs from the corporate and public policy fields”.

John North, head of Royds Commercial Corporate department and also a member of the Interleges Executive Committee commented “We have helped some of our UK and European clients to open in the Middle East and to explore opportunities there. Our Middle East associates are also keen to introduce us to their clients who are interested in investment in the UK – and Royds is ideally placed to assist both corporates and private individuals”.
